Unlawful Eviction & Harassment
Unfortunately Henry Hyams is not able to take on any new Housing Law cases. If you are a tenant in residential accommodation in the Leeds area and require legally aided housing advice, please try Gallagher & Co on 0113 467 5000.
The majority of private tenancies are conducted in a law abiding and considerate manner. However, there are landlords who employ unscrupulous tactics if they want to give the tenancy to another party or, indeed, for a variety of reasons.
The housing team at Henry Hyams are experienced in the law surrounding what is known as the “quiet enjoyment” of your home. We can advise you on what amounts to harassment and what action can be taken. If your landlord goes one step further and tells you to leave without going through the correct court process, or changes the locks to prevent you access we will take immediate action on your behalf. That could involve an application for an injunction to have you reinstated to the property, or a claim for damages for the unlawful action taken against you.
In such cases it is important that you act immediately. We would invite you to call in to the office without an appointment, or telephone to seek immediate on the spot advice.
