Civil Partnership Solicitors
This is a relatively new area of law and our civil partnership lawyers team has already established expertise and developed our practice in this respect. Our civil partnership solicitors are pleased to be able to offer advice and assistance to you if you are considering entering into a civil partnership. As with any partnership it is wise to involve a civil partnership solicitor and take advice to ensure you are aware of changes that will take place to your legal position in relation to your property, assets and your pension.
Before entering into the partnership, you could both sign a “Pre-registration Agreement.” This is particularly important if you wish to protect substantial assets that you bring into the partnership, or which you are likely to acquire during its course, for example by inheritance.
If your relationship breaks down, the rules are the same that govern divorce. The partnership needs to be formally dissolved. Our civil partnership dissolution solicitors can help you with this process. You will need advice on how your capital and pension should be divided and whether either of you are entitled to receive, or required to pay, maintenance. Our civil partnership dissolution solicitors can also deal with disputes in relation to any children of the family.
